An opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life awaits you! And a child waits for you to enter their life!

Become a Foster Parent

We are seeking foster and adoptive parents who want to positively impact a child’s life, their own life, and their community. By recruiting and training foster parents who are inspired by social justice and equity and are motivated to empower marginalized communities in the foster care system, we aim to increase the paths to permanency for children in care and to ensure every child grows up in the context a family’s embrace.

As a foster parent with Allies for Every Child, you will be providing an infant, child, or teenager the opportunity to experience your family’s love, guidance, and unconditional commitment to delivering them the promise of childhood. All children need an ally– a family– to support them on their journey, but children who have experienced trauma, abuse, and/or neglect often miss out on this chance to heal. Our families are the allies these children rightfully deserve while they are in foster care and on their way to either reunifying with a birth family member or adoption with an Allies family.

It is Allies’ belief that the culture of the entire foster care system must change in order for children tangled in it to experience what is right and just– A childhood. A family. A future. If you are ready to join the movement, we look forward to you becoming a part of our community of foster families.

The Process of Becoming an Approved Foster and Adoptive Parent

Step 1: Orientation – Come meet with our Assistant Director of Resource Family Approval Rachel Gates, MSW. Rachel will welcome you to the program and explain Allies’ philosophy of service for children in foster care. She will answer any questions you have and introduce you to other families, who, like yourself, are taking the first step toward being an Ally.

Step 2: Training – Get your learning on! Allies is committed to ensuring that foster parents are adequately prepared and equipped to parent children who have experienced trauma and loss. You will also meet current Allies foster and adoptive parents and continue to build your community of support.

Step 3: Home Study – Kind of like Grub Hub, we come to you! Our social worker will come to your home approximately 3 times to answer your questions, learn more about your life experiences, and continue the mutual assessment of becoming a foster and/or adoptive parent with Allies.

Step 4: Approval– Cross the finish line! Classwork Check, paperwork Check, and home study check. You are now APPROVED by Allies as a foster and adoptive parent and ready to receive the call!

Step 5: Placement – A child enters your life and you enter theirs! Allies, Raise A Child and UCLA TIES staff, as well as your community of Allies foster and adoptive parents, will continue to be with you every step of the way.

If you are ready to begin your journey as an ally to a child in need, please contact Rachel Gates today.

*We will remain Westside Children’s Center pending name change updates to our county contracts.
